Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills (KI-SWSH) has strongly condemned the use of tear gas, blank ammunition, and lathi charges by security forces against peaceful protestors during a public shutdown organized to oppose what it describes as discriminatory combing operations targeting the Kuki community. The organisation stated that three individuals sustained critical injuries during the security response and accused the government of ignoring the concerns of the public. KI-SWSH further alleged that the ongoing communal tensions were initiated by NSCN-IM and the ZUF-Kamson faction and stated that public agitation would continue until action is taken against those it considers responsible.

Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills (KI-SWSH) has unequivocally condemned the aggressive and forceful dispersal of peaceful protestors by security forces through the use of tear gas, blank ammunition, and lathi charges.

According to KI-SWSH, these measures were undertaken while the Government remained indifferent to the genuine grievances and demands of the people. The organisation stated that the public shutdown had been organized specifically to protest what it described as discriminatory and targeted combing operations being conducted solely against innocent members of the Kuki community.

KI-SWSH further stated that three individuals sustained critical injuries as a direct consequence of the force used by security personnel during the dispersal of the protest.

The organisation reiterated its position that the current communal tensions were initiated by NSCN-IM and its alleged proxy, the ZUF-Kamson faction. It asserted that unless the Government takes decisive legal action against those it considers responsible and ensures that appropriate punitive measures are imposed, the ongoing public agitation will continue.

KI-SWSH called upon the authorities to address the concerns of the people through dialogue and justice rather than the use of force, emphasizing that public grievances must be heard and addressed in a fair and transparent manner.

Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations

Sunday, June 21, 2026

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
