Kuki Inpi Demands Justice, Rejects Arambai Amnesty
Kuki Inpi demands prosecution of Arambai Tenggol members and withdrawal of remarks against further arrests.
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly condemned the reported remarks of Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam suggesting that efforts are being made to avoid further arrests and crackdowns on members of Arambai Tenggol. The apex tribal body described the reported position as an attempt to shield individuals accused of serious crimes committed against the Kuki-Zo community during the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur.
In a press statement issued on June 24, KIM asserted that Arambai Tenggol is not a civil society organization but an armed radical group allegedly involved in numerous incidents of violence against Kuki-Zo civilians. The organization stated that any move to protect those accused of such crimes would amount to denying justice to victims and their families.
Victims Still Await Justice, Says KIM
Among the cases highlighted by KIM was that of Nengtinlhing Haokip, also known as Lhingnu Haokip, an 18-year-old Kuki girl who was allegedly abducted near an ATM in Imphal in May 2023. According to KIM, she was assaulted, handed over to armed individuals, repeatedly raped and brutally beaten before being abandoned. The organization stated that she succumbed to her injuries on January 10, 2026, without receiving justice.
KIM also referred to the deaths of Olivia Chongloi, 21, and Florence Hangshing, 24, both residents of Khopibung village in Kangpokpi district. The organization alleged that the two young women were abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered on May 4, 2023.
The tribal body further highlighted the killing of Nehmang Kipgen, a hearing-impaired Kuki man from S. Phailengkot village, who was allegedly abducted and burned alive during the violence.

Another case cited by KIM was that of Zosangkim Hmar from Zairawn village in Jiribam district, who was allegedly tortured, sexually assaulted and burned alive in November 2024.
The statement also mentioned the killings of Kamlengsat Lunkim and Kamminlal Lupheng, whose bodies were allegedly subjected to extreme mutilation after their deaths.
KIM further referred to the May 4, 2023 incident in which Kuki-Zo women were stripped, paraded naked, and sexually assaulted by a mob, alleging that members of Arambai Tenggol were involved in the attack.

Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
