Kuki Inpi Manipur has demanded an end to selective security operations in Kuki villages and called for impartial action against all armed groups.

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly condemned what it described as a selective security operation targeting Kuki villages and village volunteers in Manipur. The apex body of the Kuki tribes accused security agencies of focusing their operations on village volunteers. on victimized communities while failing to act against those responsible for attacks on Kuki civilians.

KIM Raises Concerns Over Security Operations

In a press statement issued on Saturday, KIM said Kuki communities have suffered repeated attacks, displacement, destruction of homes, and loss of innocent lives during the ongoing conflict in Manipur.

The organization alleged that armed cadres of NSCN-IM and its alleged proxy outfit, commonly known as the Kamson Group, were responsible for the killing of 14 Kuki civilians and the burning of 11 Kuki villages. However, KIM claimed that no visible security operation has been launched against the alleged perpetrators or their bases.

According to KIM, recent security operation activities have remained concentrated in Kuki-inhabited areas, particularly in Kangchup and Leilon Vaiphei. The organization said these actions have created fear among ordinary villagers, including women, children, and elderly residents.

Questions Raised After L. Munlui Incident

KIM also expressed concern over the security operations conducted after a recent bomb attack at L. Munlui village. The incident reportedly left three Kuki youths injured.

The organization questioned why the operation was directed towards Kuki villages instead of those responsible for carrying out the attack. It said such actions raise serious concerns about the impartiality and priorities of security agencies operating in the region.

Village Volunteers Defended

Defending the role of village volunteers, KIM stated that they were formed to protect vulnerable villages in the absence of adequate security arrangements.

The organization maintained that village volunteers are not aggressors but defenders of life and property. It argued that treating them as targets of security operations while armed groups remain unchecked is both unfair and unjust.

Demand for Fair and Impartial Action

KIM urged the Government of India and all security agencies to immediately stop selective security operations against Kuki villages and Village Volunteers.

It called for fair, impartial, and evidence-based action against all armed groups, irrespective of ethnicity or affiliation. According to KIM, equal scrutiny under the law is necessary to restore public confidence and ensure justice.

The organization concluded that lasting peace in Manipur can only be achieved through fairness, accountability, and equal protection for all communities.
