The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul expresses serious concern over alleged credible inputs regarding the presence of armed Meitei Arambai Tenggol cadres in Sikibung operating in coordination with Tangkhul-linked elements. The statement warns that multiple villages in Ukhrul are reportedly being used as bases for coordinated militant activity, creating a heightened security risk for civilians. It also raises concerns over possible compromise of sensitive security information affecting vulnerable Kuki villages and calls for an independent inquiry. The Committee urges immediate government intervention to dismantle alleged militant camps, restore law and order, and ensure protection of civilians.

The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Ukhrul expresses grave concern over credible inputs regarding the presence of over 50 Meitei Arambai Tenggol militants stationed at Sikibung in Ukhrul district, operating in coordination with Tangkhul militant elements.

The Committee states that this development is deeply alarming, noting that the presence and coordination of armed Meitei and Tangkhul militant groups in multiple locations indicates an organized arrangement that poses a serious threat to civilian safety and stability in the district.

It further states that several villages in Ukhrul district are being used as operational bases for coordinated activity between Meitei and Tangkhul militant elements. These include Sareikhong, T.M. Kasom, Leingangching, Sikibung, Thoyee, and Sinakeithel.

The Committee also raises concern over inputs indicating that sensitive information regarding vulnerable Kuki villages may have been passed from within the Manipur police establishment to Tangkhul militant elements, enabling targeting of civilian settlements. It calls for an independent and impartial inquiry to establish responsibility and ensure accountability.

The statement notes that continued operation of armed networks and the existence of unauthorized militant camps reflects a serious breakdown in enforcement and raises fundamental concerns over the security framework in the district.

It expresses shock at the scale and coordination of these developments, stating that the pattern indicates structured activity rather than isolated incidents. The convergence of Meitei and Tangkhul militant elements, combined with lack of effective intervention, has created a highly volatile situation on the ground.

The Committee calls upon the Government of India and the State Government to take immediate cognisance of the situation and initiate urgent measures to dismantle all unauthorized militant camps, disperse armed militant concentrations, enforce strict law and order, conduct an impartial inquiry into the intelligence compromise within the police establishment, and ensure protection of vulnerable civilian populations.

The Committee warns that any delay in action will further deteriorate the already fragile security environment and states that authorities will be held accountable for consequences arising from inaction.

Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations

Sunday, June 21, 2026

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
