Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses serious concern over alleged intelligence inputs indicating coordinated militant presence and activity involving Meitei Arambai Tenggol elements and Tangkhul-linked groups in parts of Ukhrul district. The organisation claims that multiple locations are being used as operational bases, raising concerns over civilian safety and law and order. It also alleges a possible security breach by an official, which it says may have enabled targeting of vulnerable villages. KIM calls for immediate government intervention, dismantling of alleged militant camps, an independent inquiry into the reported breach, and stronger protection for civilians.

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses serious concern over confirmed inputs regarding the presence of over 50 Meitei Arambai Tenggol militants stationed at Sikibung in Ukhrul District, allegedly operating in coordination with Tangkhul militant elements. The organisation states that this indicates a structured and coordinated militant deployment with direct implications for civilian safety and public order.

KIM further notes that multiple locations within Ukhrul district — including Sareikhong, T.M. Kasom, Leingangching, Sikibung, and Thoyee — are reportedly being used as bases for joint militant activity. It expresses concern over the continued operation of an unauthorized NSCN-linked Tangkhul militant camp within this network, stating that the absence of enforcement action reflects a serious lapse in maintaining law and order.

The organisation also states that it has received inputs suggesting that a senior officer within the Manipur police establishment may have compromised operational integrity by sharing sensitive information relating to vulnerable Kuki villages, allegedly facilitating targeted attacks. KIM notes that if established, such conduct would constitute a grave breach of official responsibility and undermine trust in the security framework.

KIM asserts that the convergence of militant elements across multiple locations, along with the absence of effective containment measures, indicates a deteriorating security situation in Ukhrul district that requires immediate intervention.

The organisation calls upon the Government of India to take prompt and decisive action to dismantle all alleged militant camps, remove armed concentrations, and initiate an independent inquiry into the reported intelligence breach. It further urges authorities to ensure strict accountability and enhanced security measures for the protection of vulnerable civilian populations.

Kuki Inpi Manipur states that urgent intervention is necessary to restore order and uphold the rule of law.

Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations

Sunday, June 21, 2026

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
