Kuki Inpi Manipur Grateful to Nagaland for Voice of Reason and Peace
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses deep gratitude to the leaders, churches, and civil society organisations of Nagaland for their prompt condemnation of the killing of three Kuki-Zo Baptist pastors on 13 May 2026 in Kangpokpi district. The organisation acknowledges the solidarity and peace-oriented stance taken by Nagaland’s political leadership and Christian bodies, noting their continued efforts toward dialogue, reconciliation, and humanitarian support for affected individuals. KIM also highlights assistance provided to stranded persons and calls for continued vigilance, advocacy, and efforts to promote peace and coexistence in the region.
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) extends its sincere gratitude to the leaders, churches, and civil society organisations of Nagaland for their prompt and strong condemnation of the ghastly ambush that claimed the lives of three respected Kuki-Zo Baptist pastors — Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou — on 13 May 2026 in Kangpokpi district, Manipur. The attack on innocent servants of God returning from a peace-related church event has deeply pained the community.

KIM also records its appreciation for the humanitarian assistance extended by the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Nagaland to individuals from Manipur who were stranded or in need in Nagaland, and requests continued support in this regard.
While expressing gratitude, KIM notes that the situation in Manipur remains fragile and requires continued attention. It appeals to the people of Nagaland to remain vigilant, promote peaceful coexistence, and use their influence to prevent escalation of tensions. Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills (KI-SWSH) has strongly condemned the use of tear gas, blank ammunition, and lathi charges by security forces against peaceful protestors during a public shutdown organized to oppose what it describes as discriminatory combing operations targeting the Kuki community. The organisation stated that three individuals sustained critical injuries during the security response and accused the government of ignoring the concerns of the public. KI-SWSH further alleged that the ongoing communal tensions were initiated by NSCN-IM and the ZUF-Kamson faction and stated that public agitation would continue until action is taken against those it considers responsible.
Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
