Kuki Inpi Thanks Mizoram for Strong Condemnation of Pastors’ Brutal Killing
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses deep gratitude to Mizoram leaders, political parties, and civil society organisations for their swift condemnation of the killing of three Thadou Baptist pastors in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, on 13 May 2026. The attack, carried out against individuals returning from a peace initiative, is described as a serious crime and a setback to regional peace efforts. KIM acknowledges the solidarity shown by Mizoram across political, religious, and civil society platforms, which has provided moral support to the bereaved families and the wider Kuki-Zo community. The statement also highlights ongoing humanitarian and security concerns in Manipur, including alleged hostage situations and reported economic blockades affecting Kuki-Zo areas, and calls for continued vigilance, support, and advocacy.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) extends its heartfelt gratitude to the leaders and civil society organisations of Mizoram for their prompt and unequivocal condemnation of the killing of three respected Thadou Baptist pastors — Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulen Sitlhou — on 13 May 2026 in Kangpokpi district, Manipur.
The attack, carried out against individuals returning from a peace initiative, is a grave crime against humanity and a serious setback to peace efforts in the region.
KIM acknowledges that the strong statements of condemnation and solidarity from Mizoram’s political leadership, civil society bodies, churches, and organisations have provided significant moral support to the grieving families and the wider Kuki-Zo community. This solidarity reaffirms the deep ethnic, cultural, and fraternal bonds among the Chin-Kuki-Mizo peoples across regions.
At the same time, KIM notes with concern the continuing deterioration of the ground situation in Manipur. Reports indicate that 14 Kuki-Zo individuals are currently held under alleged hostage situations by various Manipur Naga organisations in Senapati and surrounding areas. In addition, economic blockades targeting Kuki-Zo inhabited areas have been announced, worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis marked by shortages of essential supplies, restricted movement, and heightened insecurity.
KIM appeals to Mizo leaders, churches, and civil society organisations to remain vigilant and continue monitoring developments closely. Continued moral support, advocacy, and prayers are requested as the situation remains unstable and uncertain.

Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills (KI-SWSH) has strongly condemned the use of tear gas, blank ammunition, and lathi charges by security forces against peaceful protestors during a public shutdown organized to oppose what it describes as discriminatory combing operations targeting the Kuki community. The organisation stated that three individuals sustained critical injuries during the security response and accused the government of ignoring the concerns of the public. KI-SWSH further alleged that the ongoing communal tensions were initiated by NSCN-IM and the ZUF-Kamson faction and stated that public agitation would continue until action is taken against those it considers responsible.
Kuki Inpi Manipur Strongly Condemns Targeted Harassment of Villagers and Misuse of Combing Operations
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) strongly condemns what it describes as continuous harassment of Kuki-Zo villagers by Central Security Forces under the guise of combing operations, particularly in Leilon Vaiphei and surrounding areas. KIM alleges that aggressive military-style actions, including cordon-and-search operations and house-to-house raids, are being carried out against civilians already affected by violence and economic blockade. The organisation also highlights the ongoing blockade of essential supplies and demands immediate restoration of lifelines, cessation of civilian harassment, and deployment of security forces to clear national highways instead of targeting villages.
