KIM Urges Modi to Secure Hostage Release & Political Solution

Kuki Inpi Manipur urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure justice, release hostages, protect vulnerable communities, and expedite a political solution.
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a nationwide democratic rally held across different parts of the country, urging the Government of India to take immediate measures to address issues concerning justice, security, protection, and political aspirations of the Kuki-Zo people.
In the memorandum, KIM expressed deep concern over the prolonged suffering endured by the Kuki-Zo community amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The organisation stated that despite repeated appeals and representations, many issues affecting the community remain unresolved, resulting in continued insecurity and mistrust.
A major concern highlighted in the memorandum was the killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders in an ambush on 13 May 2026. KIM called for the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible, a fair and impartial investigation by central agencies, and adequate support for the affected families.
The organisation also sought urgent intervention for the safe and unconditional release of 14 Kuki-Zo individuals reportedly being held hostage in Senapati district. It urged the Government of India and central security agencies to take decisive action to secure their release and ensure accountability for those involved.
The memorandum further highlighted the continued violence, displacement, destruction of villages, and insecurity affecting Kuki-Zo inhabited areas. KIM appealed for stronger protection measures, prevention of further targeted violence, restoration of free movement along key national highways, and impartial delivery of justice without discrimination.
KIM also reiterated the need for an expedited political solution to address the aspirations, security concerns, and rights of the Kuki-Zo people. The memorandum called upon the Government of India to accelerate meaningful political dialogue with the Suspension of Operations (SoO) groups and work towards a lasting and honourable settlement.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, democracy, constitutional values, and coexistence, Kuki Inpi Manipur expressed hope that the Government of India would respond with urgency and take concrete steps to restore justice, security, and stability in the region.
